Red Cabbage Indicator Science

Two days ago (21/8/18) in Science, me and Jayden made a Red Cabbage Acid Indicator, we used Test tubes, Red Cabbage, Lemonade, Water, Floor cleaner, Sparkling Water, Toilet Cleaner, Base.
Our aim was to tell the levels of pH with a Red Cabbage Acid Indicator using house hold liquids.

So What we did was put red cabbage in a beaker up to 100 ml and then put water to 150 ml then turned the bunsen burner on and also put the beaker on a tripod over the bunsen burner and let the liquid turn purple we turned the heat of and poured the liquid into a flask
and then added the liquid into 6 test tubes and then we added the household liquids and named all the flasks.

1st Water, 2nd Floor Cleaner, 3rd Sparkling Water, 4th Lemonade 5th Toilet Cleaner, 6th Base.

Water is blue 8, Floor Cleaner is Blue 8, Sparkling Water is Purple 4, Lemonade Violet 6, Toilet Cleaner Red 2, Base Purple 4.

And a indicator is something that gives information about heat and other things

Sugar and Salt Science

Finding the difference of things that look almost the same is a little challenging but not impossible today I can tell you a few different to distinguish salt from sugar and without tasting them, first salt is more crystallised and a lot more whiter.

First under a microscope salt is clear and clear, sugar is bigger and not clear because it has little sugar around the grain.

Sugar takes three whole tablespoon to hit its saturation point, Salt is the exact same as sugar.Image result for sugar and salt under microscope

7TZ Hokey Pokey science

Our aim for the hokey pokey was to make it into a gooey substance and make it edible.

The reason we needed baking soda to complete it is because of the baking soda making the batters rise like making bread. Also the bubbles in the hokey pokey is carbon dioxide escaping the
hokey pokey.

We need 100g sugar 1 table spoon of water 1 teaspoon for baking soda two tablespoons of maple syrup and we used a bunsen burner, silver foil and a pot.

First put all the ingredients in except the baking soda afterwards put the silver foil on your baking tray, then turn your stove or bunsen burner on and put the pot over the fire and stir until the sugar is dissolved and bubbling, take it off the heat once the sugar is dissolved now add the baking soda once it looks like this.
The Science of honeycomb, science sparks
Now pour it onto the baking tray then allow it to cool down
